OMD

One of the very first UK synth-pop groups, OMD set the mould for countless other new wave techno-poppers with their seminal early-'80s recordings. The group revolved around the duo of singers/multi-instrumentalists Andrew McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, who brought a keen melodic sense to their technological excursions. The group's biggest hit came with the ultra-poppy ballad "If You Leave," featured in the film PRETTY IN PINK, but OMD's classic albums gently subvert the mainstream.
