We Are Scientists

During its existence, We Are Scientists have been located both in California and Brooklyn, New York, a duality that shows in its music, which blends breezy Beach Boys-esque pop with post-punk indie-rock and a dab of '80s synth-pop. On its 2005 debut, WITH LOVE AND SQUALOR, the trio showcased this catchy mix with taut stories of neurotic love, highlighted by the single "Nobody Moves, Nobody Gets Hurt." Though they maintained a respectable level of indie stardom in the States, the band became bona fide stars in the U.K., thanks in part to a slew of successful singles.
