The Orb

The Orb was the brainchild of Dr. Alex Paterson, and were pioneers of ambient house and electronic dub who reached their commercial peak during the London acid house scene of the early-1990s. Original member and KLF founder Jimi Cauty departed prior to 1991's ADVENTURES BEYOND THE ULTRAWORLD – an electronic masterpiece often lauded as one of the finest albums of the 90s. Kris Weston (aka Thrash) was on board for the focused and daring 1992 follow-up U.F.ORB, which featured the hit single "Blue Room". Next, German techno star Thomas Fehlmann assisted on a trio of albums for Island, but 2001's CYDONIA - their delayed final album for the label - was generally regarded as a return to form. The hip-hop inspired BICYCLES AND TRICYCLES arrived in 2004, while the production of 2007's THE DREAM won The Orb further acclaim.
