Lambchop

Based in Nashville, Lambchop combines country and R&B influences with moody, orchestral arrangements (strings and horns are a permanent part of the ensemble) and quirky lyricism. Leader Kurt Wagner delivers the songs in an endearingly cracked drawl, bringing out their deadpan humour. Wagner started the band as Posterchild in 1986, changing the name to Lambchop in '93 and overseeing the debut album I HOPE YOU'RE SITTING DOWN the next year. Over time the group went from relative obscurity to international renown with their unique, eclectic sound.
