Kate Nash

London singer-songwriter Kate Nash built a reputation through gigs and Internet word of mouth. Emerging alongside Jamie T and Jack Penate, Nash gave a unique, girl's-eye view of the edgy new school of British singer-songwriters. Her debut single, the somewhat atypical "Caroline's a Victim," came over as an electro-clash Lily Allen; the double-A side, "Birds," was more representative of her quirky, acoustic pop, boasting hip-hop beats and thrift-store keyboards. The follow-up, "Foundations," shot to number two on the U.K. singles chart, while her debut album, MADE OF BRICKS, promptly topped the U.K. album charts upon its release in 2007.
