Inspiral Carpets

Inspiral Carpets were one of the better (if not the most commercially viable) products of the 1990s "Madchester" scene, along with cohorts Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses. Their powerful mix of garage psychedelia and solid rock rhythms paid tribute to the '60s without feeling like a complete throwback--and fans could dance or listen on headphones with similarly ecstatic results. While they initially trailed their peers, their stature has grown since their 1995 break-up, prompting two sold-out reunion tours in 2001 and 2007 and the release of several compilation albums.
